Judging by my last name you probably guessed how I got interested in bicycles…I'm Rick's wife. For one of our first vacations after we got married, Rick wanted to go with Trek Travel to bicycle our way through the wineries and scenery of Napa Valley. That meant it was time for me to get a real bike.

I hopped on a road bike just to try it out and I loved it. I felt as if I was flying through the empty parking lot. Since then I have enjoyed helping out with the Women's Rides at ABC Bicycles, going on Trek Travel vacations, and riding with lots of new friends.

In 2009 I started practicing yoga, Pilates, as well as riding my bike. For me, the three activities have helped me to be even more comfortable on and off the bike. I find the stretching and strengthening of yoga to compliment the core workout of Pilates. Both help me recover and stay strong for cycling.

Now I am a certified Yoga Instructor and teach Yoga for Cyclists regularly on Monday evenings at the shop at 6:45 pm. I am grateful for the opportunity to share the principles of Yoga and maybe help someone become more comfortable on their bike or in their own skin. I also enjoy helping people find the perfect bicycle for their bodies and their level of activity.

My name is Allen Hinkle. I recently moved to Tampa from Nashville, TN where I first learned how to work on bikes. I am excited to get the opportunity to work for a shop again. I am very enthusiastic and want you to be just as happy on 2 wheels as I am.

I plan to study architecture in St. Petersburg and continue that study at USF once I get situated in Tampa. I love riding trails; mountain biking is my hobby. I have heard great things about Flatwoods park and plan to make it up there for some trail riding. Hope to see you around the shop.

My name is Matt and I have been working at the Trek Store since 2011. I have been riding bikes since I was a kid and working on bikes for the past few years. I've been commuting by bike every day since I was 16, through hot Florida summers and cold Chicago winters.

I first learned to work on bikes so I could keep my own rig in shape and have been passionate about it since. I appreciate a challenge and enjoy solving complex mechanical issues. I love finding obscure parts and resurrecting ancient machines.

I primarily ride commuter bikes and single speeds but love road riding and mountain biking as well.

In my spare time I garden & play bicycle polo.

Jase severance

jase 220Hello. I'm Jase and I've been living and breathing cycling since removing the training wheels from my Schwinn Stingray in Louisville, KY when I was the age of five. I recently relocated to St.Pete with my wife and children from Duelmen, Germany.

After meeting my wife on a European vacation in 2000, I decided to move to her hometown in Munsterland and start an apprenticeship as a certified motorcycle/bicycle mechanic. After completing the program and working full time in the cycling industry, I began managing the workshop for my wife's 200 year-old family-owned bicycle and sewing machine shop. In my free time, I enjoyed riding with the local chapter of the German Cyclists Federation. I eventually became a licensed tour guide with that group.

I have a few goals at the Trek Store.

1) Promote cycling as an everyday part of life. In the last 6 months I've logged approximately 1,500 miles between my free time and on my daily 15 mile commute. It is easy to utilize the bicycle for commuting, shopping, staying fit, and spending time with family and friends. Cycling sets a good example for motorists and improves our overall health as well as the environment.

2) Lead local bicycle tours with the goal to enjoy outdoors and socializing. I'm currently guiding the Dinner Cruise on the 2nd Friday of each month. In the near future, I would like to guide a hybrid bicycle tour to the Saturday Morning Market in St.Pete.

3) Open people's minds to the Pedalec ( Electric Bicycles) These are very common overseas and will eventually have their place here. They are so much fun to ride. Once you have had that experience, you will most likely want one, too.
